Every NYE we go out to dinner with my family and then usually head to a friend's house or back to Casa de Us. This year we were pumped to have a great sitter for the kids, dinner at Bob's, and then on to Derrick and Jayce's super cool house.
I picked up the sitter on time, had the kids fed and we were out the door with time to spare. Got to the restaurant first, checked in on the reservation that I had called and confirmed 2 days ago (which were initially made in October) and then hung out while waiting for everyone else. My entire family arrived at 7:02, pretty good for a 7 pm reservation time. We let the hostess know that we are all there and ready, she says it will be a few more minutes. Not kidding you - we did not sit down until 8:15!!! What is the point taking a reservation if you aren't going to hold a reservation? Anyone can take a reservation. Needless to say we were all a bit miffed. We sat down, ordered, waited 45 minutes for salads and then another 30 for our meals. We played high/low while waiting - normally done at the end of the meal but we were trying to distract ourselves. We texted babysitters to let them know we were running over an hour behind schedule. After we had eaten and were waiting on our desserts the waitress comes with the bill, it is paid and we keep waiting. The manager comes over to our table, while we are waiting on dessert, and tells us that we need to wrap it up they have other reservations waiting! Can you believe it?! We were amazed that because they were over an hour late that we were being told to hurry up! So next year maybe not Bob's and maybe an earlier time slot.
Made it home, took the babysitter home, checked on the boys - Ryder's fever was back up to 103, so we called Derrick and Jayce and told them we were in for next year but out for this year. We put on our stretchy pants and rung in the new year by challenging each other in Wii tennis.

unbelievable...that is so rude!!!!
Wow - that's classy! Too bad you have several readers who MIGHT have eaten at Bob's....glad you rang in the New Year with the one you love, though...Happy, happy, happy!
Wow. People never cease to amaze me. I probably wouldn't eat at Bob's ever again. Too bad my husband likes it so much. :)
On our wedding day, we eloped on a cliff over looking the Pacific. It was absolutely the most perfect day. We had a reservation to eat at one of the better restaurants in the little California town. It was obvious it was our wedding day (um-wedding dress, tux, bouquet, cake, champagne...)and we had the preferred table overlooking the water. We had been there for about an hour and a half and the waitress asked us to wrap it up because other guests were waiting for that table. Really!?? It was our wedding day. We passed by the group waiting for our table and they looked mortified that they had pushed to sit when they saw me stand up in my wedding dress with a scowl on my face. The rest of the day was perfect, but we won't ever go there again.
