Catch Up

So during my hiatus earlier this month several things happened but a major was ...our first trip to the ER!

We had been having a crazy Saturday - 2 birthday parties and lots of travel time. By the time we made it to Dwight's sister's house Scout was exhausted and not the most cooperative of all kids (side note: him being exhausted is an explanation, not an excuse for his out of control behavior). He was upstairs playing around on the couches and according to eye witnesses (I was feeding Ryder) he didn't fall off the couch but when getting down he landed funny on his foot/ankle. We've taught him to brush off boo boos and this typically does the job, but he wouldn't stop crying. It was so sad, he was limping and crying and just plain fussy. We decided to head home and put him straight to bed. We chalked it up to being tired and way over stimulated. He slept great and we even had to wake him up to get ready for church. When Dwight went to get him out of bed he wouldn't even put pressure on it - it was sooo sad he hopped around and acted pathetic. So at this point we make an executive decision - ER.
We get there, get checked in, make it through triage, and through billing in under 1 hour. We have x-rays and see the doctor all before 11 am. Diagnosis - sprained. They wrapped it in an ace bandage and gave him a beanie baby. We gave him some Motrin and he napped the rest of the day. Oh well. At least we felt good knowing we had done more than enough.

Hi, Tara.

American friends of mine that currently live in Greater Vancouver, have a little toddler who fell off monkey bars on saw dust and banged her head. They did not take her to the hospital immediately as she seemed okay. However, by the next day she had a fever and they took her to emergency and found out she had a hairline skull fracture and blood on the brain. She is now fine, but live and learn I suppose.:)
